Cummins employs 34,600 people worldwide and reported net income of $715 million on sales of $11.4 billion in 2006, up by 30% and 15% respectively over 2005.

Cummins Power Generation is a global provider of power generation systems, components and services in standby power, distributed power generation, as well as auxiliary power in mobile applications to meet the needs of a diversified customer base. Cummins Power Generation also provides a full range of services and solutions, including long-term operation and maintenance contracts, and turnkey and temporary power solutions.

The Components segment is made up of four lines of business:
Cummins Filtration designs, manufactures and distributes heavy-duty air, fuel, hydraulic and lube filtration, chemicals and exhaust system technology products for diesel and gas-powered equipment.
Cummins Turbo Technologies designs and manufactures turbochargers and related products, on a global scale, for diesel engines above 3 liters.
Cummins Emission Solutions develops and supplies catalytic exhaust systems and related products to the medium- and heavy-duty commercial diesel engine markets. The exhaust systems include packaging of catalytic exhaust systems, engineered aftertreatment components and system integration services for engine manufacturers.
Cummins Fuel Systems designs, develops and manufactures new fuel systems and remanufactures electronic control modules in the United States. In Mexico, it remanufactures Cummins and other's fuel systems. This business serves engines ranging from 9 to 78 liters.

The company's investment in China currently exceeds US$200 million. As the largest foreign investor in China's diesel engine sector, Cummins has significant ownership in 13 factories producing eight of the fourteen Cummins engine families, turbochargers, filters, exhaust systems, fuel systems, alternators and gensets.

In the aftermarket support area, Cummins has 10 regional service centers and over 230 authorized dealers across the mainland to support an engine population of more than one million units.

Cummins confidence in China's continued economic development led it to relocate its regional headquarters to Beijing in 1997 to manage business operations in Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and Mongolia. Cummins was one of the earliest foreign enterprises to establish its regional headquarters in China's capital city.

2005年，康明斯全球董事会首次在华召开，宣布在未来五年内将新增投资三亿美元，2010年在华业务额将达到三十亿美元。
In October 2005, Cummins Board of Directors held, for the first time in China, its board meeting and announced an additional US$300 million dollar investment in China over the next five years. Cummins sales in China are expected to grow to $3 billion by 2010.
