Schlumberger
Research and Development
Center is the backbone
of the company in
providing services
and solutions to
its clients. The
history goes back
to 1912, when the
two Schlumberger
brothers, who were
the founder of the
company, utilized
their talents in
science and engineering
to solve problems
in oil and gas exploration.
Started in 1997,
Schlumberger Beijing
GeoScience Center
(BGC), currently
located in Tsinghua
Science Park in Beijing,
is one of the many
Schlumberger R&D Centers, which spread all over the world. BGC
has the charter of producing innovative interpretation and software
products.
To fulfill this charter,
BGC needs to work
with different physics,mathematics,
and engineering discipline,
as well as using
software technology
to realize the products.Currently,
people in BGC have
a wide range of education
background, working
together to achieve
a common goal. Although
most of BGC end products
are destined for
oilfield use, the
technology behind
the products is very
diverse and not necessarily
oilfield related
only. To be successful
in Beijing Geoscience
Center, project engineers
need to be open minded,
strong in teamwork,
motivated to learn
new discipline, and
have a passion for
software technology.
Communication skills
are extremely important
as BGC is working
closely with other
Technology Centers
in USA, UK, and France.
In return, Schlumberger
as an International
company, provide
almost unlimited
career progression
based on performance.
